Taylor Swift Compared Herself to Leonardo DiCaprio on ‘Lover’ and She Actually Makes a Solid Point
There are some receipts, okay?
After listening to Taylor Swift's new album Lover on repeat for approximately 18 hours, I've come to one shocking conclusion: She was actually kind of spot-on when she compared herself to Leonardo DiCaprio. Wait, wait. Hear me out.
In her song "The Man," Taylor explores what it would be like if she were a dude. It's a shot at a feminist anthem that raises some really excellent points, like when she asks if people would discredit her accomplishments *less* if she were born the opposite sex. I mean, yeah, probably!
But the most accurate lyric in the entire song is this: "And they would toast to me, oh, let the players play, I’d be just like Leo in Saint-Tropez," which has to be a reference to Leonardo DiCaprio, who is pretty much always vacationing in places like Saint-Tropez with supermodels in tow. While it might seem like she's shading Leo or calling out the double standard here, I think she's actually trying to put herself on his level.
On the surface, these two people don't have that much in common except for the fact that they're 1) pretty and 2) famous. But they're both actually really, really good at dating, and have left a bunch of hot AF exes in their wake. Let's do a little recap, shall we?
Some of Leo's exes include...
Literal supermodel Gisele Bundchen
Other literal supermodel Bar Refaeli
Actress Kelly Rohrbach
Blake Mother F*cking Lively
RIHANNA (technically a rumor, but including here for context)
And, to get the full picture, here's his current GF Camila Morrone
Yep, the man has an alarmingly good track record. I mean, he is hot, but still!
The only person who's dating history even remotely rivals his is... Taylor. Let's take a walk down memory lane.
Jonas Brother and Sophie Turner husband Joe Jonas
Taylor Lautner, who was Very Hot at the time
John Mayer, still sexy
Harry Fricken' Styles
And current boyfriend/Sexy British Boy Joe Alwyn
Let's be real—Taylor's ex list is just as aesthetically impressive as Leo's. Plus, for both of them, these relationships never seem to last all that long. I used to see that as a weakness, but now I see it as a major strength. They are professionals at playing the field, which we should all aspire to be. Basically, they are very similar humans, and you cannot prove me wrong.
I have my own complaints about Lover, but Taylor subtly asserting herself as a baller at Leo levels is certainly not one of them.
